Mahila Samruddhi Yojana — ₹50,000 Loan for SC Women in Gujarat — Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about Mahila Samruddhi Yojana — ₹50,000 Loan for SC Women in Gujarat — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible for the Mahila Samruddhi Yojana?

The scheme is meant for women who are permanent residents of Gujarat, belong to the Scheduled Caste category, come from an Antyodaya Anna Yojana family or the economically backward class, and whose annual family income stays within ₹3,00,000. Along with these, the applicant has to be planning a self-employment venture or a micro-enterprise. All the conditions have to be met together.

How much funding does the scheme offer?

A beneficiary can take a loan of up to ₹50,000. The application form asks you to state the amount you need, which for this scheme is ₹50,000, along with the purpose you intend to use it for.

What interest rate is charged on the loan?

Interest is charged at a concessional rate of 6% per annum, which keeps the cost of borrowing low for the women this scheme targets.

Do I have to contribute any money of my own?

Yes. The Gujarat government bears 95% of the loan, that is ₹47,500 of the ₹50,000, while the beneficiary contributes 5%, which works out to ₹2,500. Your own share is therefore quite small compared with the capital you receive.

Over how many months do I repay the loan?

Repayment is structured across 36 months, or three years. The indicative monthly instalment comes to about ₹1,445, which spreads the repayment into manageable portions.

Is there an application deadline?

No. The scheme runs on a rolling basis and stays open through the year, so there is no cut-off date you have to race towards. You can submit the form whenever your paperwork is ready.

Does the scheme take equity in my business?

No. This is a loan, not an investment. You borrow ₹50,000 at 6% interest and repay it over 36 months, and DAADC does not receive any ownership share or stake in your venture in return.

Do I need DPIIT recognition or MSME registration to apply?

DPIIT recognition and MSME registration are not among the conditions listed for this scheme. The eligibility criteria that DAADC applies relate to being a woman applicant, Gujarat domicile, Scheduled Caste status, the family's income and whether you intend to start a self-employment venture or micro-enterprise.

Can I apply if my business is already running?

Yes. The loan can be used both to initiate a micro or small business and to expand one that is already operating, so an existing venture does not disqualify you.

How do I apply, and which documents are needed?

Applications are made online. Go to the DAADC portal at https://daadconline.gujarat.gov.in/ and use the Apply Now option on the top menu, then select the Mahila Samruddhi Yojana from the list of loan schemes. Choose the relevant loan category, enter ₹50,000 as the amount required, and complete the form with your personal details, permanent and correspondence addresses, monthly family income and its source, the proposed use of the funds, and your bank account information. You then upload scanned copies of the Scheduled Caste certificate, income certificate, Aadhaar card, a recent passport-size photograph, the first page of your bank passbook and proof of residence. Use the preview option to check everything, submit, and keep the Application ID or reference number you receive for tracking.
