Selection process

The published material does not describe a competitive shortlisting or pitch round for this scheme. What is set out is a straightforward eligibility check, and the sequence runs roughly as follows:

  • Application submission — the applicant either files the form online through the SUNEETHI portal or submits a completed form along with supporting documents to the Probation Officer in their district.
  • Eligibility verification — the Department of Social Justice, or the relevant local authority, reviews the application against the three stated conditions: Kerala residency, ex-convict status with a poor economic background, and Below Poverty Line category.
  • Disbursement — once eligibility is confirmed, the one-time financial assistance is released to the beneficiary.

Since the scheme is open on a rolling basis, there is no single cut-off date against which applications are batched.
