Applicants can be either a company or an early-stage individual innovator. If a company, it must be registered under the Indian Companies Act, 2013, with at least 51% of the capital beneficially owned by resident Indian citizens. Individual applicants must be the Project Leader and meet the following requirements: at least 18 years of age, an Indian citizen, willing to pursue the project full-time (no other concurrent long-term academic or research commitments during the 6-month project), and have completed basic undergraduate training in natural sciences, engineering, or medicine. The proposed technology idea must be sound, innovative, with significant commercial and social potential, should have IP potential, and must not be pure software development or pure academic research. The applicant and Project Leader must not have received another grant for the same objective and scope. If selected, the applicant must become an incubatee of Venture Center for the entire project duration.
