How much funding can I receive from the EngSUI Seed Fund?
The maximum support is ₹1 crore per proposal, but not more than 100% of your total project cost – whichever is lower. The fund is disbursed in milestones linked to scaling progress.
What is the application deadline?
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis – the fund is always open until all budget slots are filled. Submit your proposal via the SIIC IIT Kanpur portal anytime.
Who is eligible to apply?
Your company must be a DPIIT-recognised startup incorporated in India for less than 10 years, with annual turnover not exceeding ₹100 crore since incorporation. It must work on technology-based innovation with a scalable business model. Priority is given to revenue-stage companies. Eligible entity types are private limited, LLP, and partnership firms.
Does the fund take equity or is it a grant?
Which industries or sectors can apply?
The fund is sector-agnostic as long as your innovation is technology-driven. All Indian states are eligible.
Do I need DPIIT or MSME registration to apply?
Yes, DPIIT recognition is mandatory. There is no M SME requirement stated in the program guidelines.
What documents do I need to submit?
You will need a detailed project proposal, a pitch deck, proof of DPIIT startup registration (incorporation certificate and recognition letter), team background details, technology artefacts showing readiness (TRL evidence), financial projections, and a clear implementation plan for the seed fund.
How do I apply?
Applying is done through the SIIC IIT Kanpur incubation portal at https://incubate.siicincubator.com. Create an account and submit your online application with all required documents.
What is the typical review and selection timeline?
There is no fixed timeline – the committee screens applications on a rolling basis. After submission, shortlisted applicants are called for interview/presentation within a few weeks, followed by due diligence. Once approved, funding is disbursed in milestones.
Can two startups within the same group apply?
Each entity must have its own DPIIT registration and submit a separate proposal. Cases of sister concerns are handled case-by-case as no clear policy exists.
