Frequently asked questions

How much money can I get under the Big Loan Scheme?

The scheme sanctions a term loan of up to ₹5,00,000 per applicant. That amount is meant to meet a substantial part of the project cost for the income-generating activity or small business you propose to set up.

Does DSFDC take equity or a share in my business for this funding?

No. This is a debt product, so the money is given as a term loan and DSFDC does not take any stake in your venture. You remain the full owner of the business and repay the loan through monthly instalments after the moratorium period ends.

Who is eligible to apply?

You need to be a permanent resident of Delhi, aged between 18 and 50 years, and belong to one of the notified target groups — Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Minorities, Safai Karamcharis, or Persons with Disabilities. You must also have the knowledge and experience relevant to the business you propose, and you should not have defaulted on any earlier loan from DSFDC, a nationalised bank, a financial institution or a co-operative bank.

Are there income limits for applying?

Yes, for most categories. Scheduled Caste, Other Backward Class and Minority applicants outside the creamy layer must keep annual family income at or below ₹1,20,000. Minority applicants in the creamy layer have a higher ceiling of ₹6,00,000 per year. Safai Karamchari and Persons with Disabilities applicants face no income limit at all.

What kind of businesses does the loan support?

The loan funds income-generating activities that fall under the permissible non-polluting trades allowed in Delhi. If your unit involves manufacturing, it has to be set up in an approved industrial area, and you will need the relevant clearances such as an SSI Certificate or a Pollution Control Certificate wherever they apply.

What are the repayment terms?

In the usual case, the loan is repaid in 60 equal monthly instalments spread over five years, and repayment starts after a six-month moratorium. Persons with Disabilities get more flexibility: the repayment period can stretch to 120 monthly instalments over ten years, with a three-month moratorium.

Is there a deadline to apply?

No. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, which means the scheme stays open throughout the year with no fixed last date. You can submit your form whenever your paperwork is ready.

How and where do I apply?

The process is offline. Download the prescribed application form from the official DSFDC website, or collect a copy from the DSFDC Head Office in Rohini or a branch office at Rajpur Road, Nand Nagari or Mangol Puri. Complete the form, paste a recent passport-sized photograph, attach self-attested copies of the required documents, and submit everything at the nearest DSFDC office along with the ₹350 processing fee.

Which documents do I need to submit?

You will need proof of residence, age, category and income where applicable, along with business-related permissions such as an SSI Certificate or a Pollution Control Certificate if your activity requires them. Copies should be self-attested, and a recent passport-sized photograph must be pasted on the form. After approval, you may also be asked for guarantor details, additional photographs, affidavits and other proofs.

What happens after I submit my application?

DSFDC reviews the application against the scheme's eligibility rules and guidelines, assesses your knowledge and experience for the proposed activity, checks the viability of the project and confirms you are not a past defaulter. If it is approved, a Letter of Intent is issued to you. The loan is then sanctioned and the amount disbursed into your bank account once all post-sanction formalities are completed.
