Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible to apply for the CIP Fellowship Program?

The fellowship is open to emerging researchers who self-identify as persons with disabilities and are based in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Applicants should have some prior research experience, but it is not for senior researchers. There is no age limit. A demonstrated commitment to disability rights and inclusive policy is required, though the research topic need not be exclusively about disability. Indian applicants are eligible.

How much financial support does the fellowship provide?

Fellows receive a monthly stipend of US$1,000 (approx. ₹83,500) for 12 months, totaling US$12,000 (approx. ₹1,002,000). Additionally, up to US$2,000 (approx. ₹167,000) is available for research, fieldwork, or conference travel. All reasonable accommodation costs are also covered.

What is the deadline for applying?

The deadline is 1 August 2026.

What are the non-financial benefits of the fellowship?

Fellows benefit from structured mentorship by experienced academics and policy experts, structured training in research and policy skills, and access to a global alumni network for ongoing peer support and collaboration.

How do I apply, and what documents are required?

Applications must be submitted via email to office@inclusive-policy.org. The application package should include a CV, a detailed cover letter, three professional references, and a well-structured research proposal. Detailed formatting guidelines are available on the official fellowship webpage.

Is the fellowship available to Indian applicants?

Yes, Indian applicants are fully eligible because India qualifies as a low- and middle-income country (LMIC).

Does the fellowship take equity or require any repayment?

No. The fellowship provides a stipend and additional funds as financial support. It is a fellowship program, not an equity investment, so there is no equity taken or repayment required.

How long is the fellowship and what is the time commitment?

The program runs for 12 months, starting 1 October. It is primarily online and requires active participation in training and mentorship sessions alongside dedicated time for research.

Is DPIIT recognition required for CIP Fellowship Program 2026?
