Who can apply for this grant?

The grant is open to NGOs, foundations, grassroots initiatives, activists, academic research projects, social enterprises, impact startups, and sustainable enterprises with a proven impact project. Conventional businesses, individuals without a track record in activism, and projects purely focused on greenwashing are not eligible.

What types of projects are funded?

Projects must align with at least one of the three strategic pillars: Plastic Life Cycle, Maritime Ecosystem, or Community of Care & Climate Resilience. The fund supports social initiatives with a specific project that fits within a maximum duration of 12 months.

How much funding is provided?

Selected applicants receive a fixed grant of €10,000, which is approximately ₹10.91 lakh.

When is the application deadline?

The deadline to apply is July 5, 2026, midnight CEST.

How are applications evaluated?

Applications are assessed using a points-based system (up to 62 points) by an internal jury. Criteria include global or local relevance, measurable impact, alignment with GOT BAG's values, scalability, longevity, budget realism, and geographic considerations. Preference is given to locally led initiatives, especially in the Global South and high-plastic-leakage regions.

Is the grant disbursed as a lump sum?

Yes, the grant of €10,000 is disbursed as a lump sum in August 2026. A kick-off call is scheduled in July 2026.

What reporting is required?

Grantees must submit a progress report in December 2026 and a final report by the end of the project or by July 2027 at the latest.

Does the fund take equity in my project?

No, this is a grant, so no equity is taken. It is non-dilutive funding.

Can I apply if I am based in India?
