Selection process

Proposals are evaluated by expert panels and scientific committees convened by BIRAC and Grand Challenges India. Assessment criteria include scientific merit, innovation quality, feasibility, potential public-health impact (especially accessibility and affordability), team capability, and the strength of consortia partnerships. Selected applicants sign a funding agreement with BIRAC, after which funds are released milestone-wise over 12 or 18 months depending on the tier.
