Selection process
The Shop Allotment Committee is the body that carries out the allotments.
Its ranking rule is merit-based and tied to how much business a trader has actually routed through the mandi. Applicants are arranged in descending order of the market fee they have deposited over the past three years. The trader with the largest three-year deposit stands first, the next largest follows, and so on down the list.
Allotments are made in that order, subject to godowns being available. Since availability caps how many traders can be accommodated, a place on the list does not by itself guarantee a godown. The design is deliberate: those who have contributed the most market fee — the most active participants — are the ones prioritised.
