The Industries Department is the arm of the Government of Odisha responsible for promotion of all-round industrial development of the State, and through that for generating employment, attracting investment and contributing to the economic development of the State. Manufacturing is central to its work, which it frames around value addition to the natural resources of the state together with technology upgradation and the acquisition of strategic capabilities. Its subject areas cover industrial development and policy, industries, foreign trade, export promotion and marketing, infrastructure development, and the corporations, boards and societies under it. Much of the delivery runs through attached bodies: IDCO for industrial infrastructure, land and construction; IPICOL for investment promotion, ease of doing business and focus-sector advisory; OFDC for film sector development; and OCAC for technology support. Businesses engage with the department mainly through these agencies and the Invest Odisha platform.
